Artist in Residence – Shannon Whitworth
In the early 2000s, Whitworth shared lead vocals and played guitar and banjo with the iconic bluegrass band The Biscuit Burners. After two critically acclaimed albums with the group, Whitworth released three solo albums and one comprised of duets. In her visual art, much of which focuses on water, rivers run like arteries, somber skies loom like silent sentinels, and marshes and streams connect the ocean to her beloved mountains. She’s been profiled in Garden & Gun, her paintings are a favorite of southern interior designers and have also been displayed in galleries as well as private collections.

3:30 – 4:30 pm: Kid’s Painting Workshops
This workshop will introduce kids ages six and up to mixed media by creating an original piece of art to take home. We will explore color and layers by drawing with paint sticks and graphite as well as splashing, pouring, and painting with acrylic paint to create a native Lowcountry bird.
